Went to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel today with utmost reluctance. Sadly we weren't able to go to Church as per Roman Catholic tradition today. We watched the movie @ Vivo City in HarbourFront but we didn't use the usual mode of transportation to get there; instead, we took the train to Jurong East, then to Pasir Ris then alighted at Clementi. Walked several metres towards the Clementi Bus Interchange and took bus 166. Passed by Commonwealth Ave and Alexandra Rd (grrr...). I didn't know "I" owned a technopoint.

Anyways the Movie. Was. So. Bloody. Boring. The only thing I did was eat my nachos and halfway through the film it was finished so I only sipped the cheese cream instead and it tasted proper delicious. Before we watched, though, we went to Page One and I went to the Puffin Classics section since I felt so ladylike-ish today.

At least I didn't act like a dalagang Pilipina.

All the classic books there cost only like, 11 bucks. I'm serious. 11 bucks for Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte! 11 bucks for a book about King Arthur Pendragon and the Knights of the Round Table. 11 bucks for Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

11 BUCKS.

And I was like, "MAZELTOV!" I got that from The Nanny and it's pretty much a Jewish expression. "Mazeltov" means "Congratulations" amongst the Jews. I mean, they have their own Jewish slang which I greatly admire. Singaporean slang isn't original and unique as theirs.

Okay, so back to the whole Squeakuel thing. It did have quite a sense of humor, I'll admit, however there was a weak script and I'm agreeing with Rotten Tomatoes for giving them a 25% Rotten rating which I think they deserved. On the other hand, Avatar, according to Ate Kat who watched it about a week ago, says it's cool but very long; nearly 3 HOURS!

Well, the movie was bound to have a flaw. It's directed by James Cameron who also directed Titanic, and it's no wonder that it received a 91% Certified Fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes, my go-to for movie reviews. My other go-to is Roger Ebert's site, because I think he is a good critic and I mostly agree on his opinions, especially his positive reviews on Harry Potter movies and Michael Jackson's This Is It and negative reviews on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, a movie I really hate because of its weak script and lack of good direction.

Meanwhile, Coco Before Chanel sounds like a great movie to watch, considering it got mostly positive reviews from renowned movie critics. Audrey Tatou provided a great portrayal of the fashion designer, and I know her because I watched The Da Vinci Code and I have it on VCD. If I ever get to watch it online, I'll post a review of it.

Speaking of movie reviews, the Visitors' Area of my site is still under construction, so sorry guys if you were looking forward to it. Please, don't be surprised when you find posts posted more than a year ago before my first post here. It's probably just a movie review or something equally similar.

It's Singapore Idol: The Grand Finale results show right now. I hope that Sylvia gets to be the winner because I liked her rendition of Mercy by Duffy, which I really really wanted to download but as there are no copies of the album she put the song in (not to mention a huge waste of money), I probably won't do so. Plus, Sylvia is half-Filipino, and I'm gonna root for my fellow kababayan.

Before I focused more on Singapore Idol, though, I had to watch this week's Live Nomination Night. I can't believe Cathy is the HoH! She always annoys me because she's such an Ingle-syera and I hate people like her. When Kuya declared her as this week's Head of Household she was like, "YAY! I WON!" unlike the previous Heads of Household (Paul Jake and Rica) who were very modest. Eventually Johan became the Kulelat and he had to give the 3 points to Rica. So now, Rica's one of the 4 nominees: Rica, Mariel, Johan and Paul Jake.

I'm betting that Mariel might get evicted because she has no more reason to remain in the House, whereas the other three have sole purposes to do so. Firstly, Rica's Melai's best friend and she makes mischief with her all the time, something which is very fun to watch. Johan is "romantically involved" with Cathy. Paul Jake is Jason's best friends and sometimes he makes mischief with the latter too. According to Rica (who nominated Mariel), Mariel is a pakeelamera (if I spelled that correctly). She might get evicted because she got the second highest votes for eviction during open voting. Here are the results taken from the show's Wikipedia page:

I feel so depressed.

It's like all my happiness faded away. Well, maybe it's because I feel like I'm always ignored. Not like I don't want to be ignored; in fact, I appreciate that I'm ignored. Of course, accident-prone people like me would do the same thing, too.

Apparently, Patrick just got evicted from the house. Tama yung hula ko eh! Wala naman siyang dahilan na manatali sa bahay ni Kuya!

After this post, I may start posting in Tagalog. Ayoko na mag-Ingles. Masyadong mahirap na sakin. Siyempre naman na simple na ako mag-Ingles kasi nga yun palagi yung lenghuahe na ginagamit ko palagi.

MERRY XMAS TO EVERYONE!!!!!

got presents from santa! and heck yes i do believe in him. so basically today we reached st. peter and paul at like 5:30 or sth and the mass lasted for 2 freaking HOURS before it finally ended. we sang "happy bday" to fr. camille (hell yes it's his birthday on the 24th!) and minda cruz the phil. ambassador (her bday is on the 25th).

anw, we all went to tita gracia's house but not before we stopped by @ raffles city. ate a little bit @ the food court (holy crap their cold sandwiches are pretty ... exotic) and stopped by at mrs. fields for a lil bit of cookie cake and some 16 cookie nibblers. THEIR COOKIES ARE BASICALLY LIKE HEAVEN.

so we also got to watch pbb there, thank god. after that we collected our xmas presents (we always get some, so long as we visit them). took a cab to home and passed by st. anthony's where they were having xmas midnight mass. reached home sometime after 1.05 AM. then aj got all excited 'cause she got the royal tea set (disney princess lah) she's "always wanted"!

checked my pile and got a hell lot disappointed. i got boggle, some green pajamas (useful for P5 camp next year) and a copy of "chick soup for the preteen soul". i was like wth? i was super disappointed but anyways tita meds gave me 20 bucks and got some from santa too. in total i have 30 bucks! i can simply spend 'em on "fearless", given that mom says she'll buy me the clique book.

hallelujah!

anw, we also got some thing called hyperdash from tita gracia and i didn't know wtf it was. i sure hope carl and zack would enjoy their nerf tag game, though. it cost almost 50 bucks, ya know!

It's December 22 and three days to go until Christmas. Sigh. I still remember when it was a week ago and AJ was anticipating Christmas but it's nearer and she's getting more frantic by the minute. She's watching Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies right now. YES, it's that oktots show.

I have no idea what do kids find good in watching "okto". Especially the weekday afternoon shows. Firstly because I find nothing interesting in "Art Factory" and "Double Chin" whatsoever. The only things I watch would be "The Numberjacks" and that's it. Hi-5 used to be good, but somehow the new Hi-5 batch isn't as good as they used to be.

Okay, so it's Paul Jake's 25th birthday today. Ahahas. I know this because I have the housemates' birthdays memorized. Sam's birthday was on the 11th, and she's now 20 years old. I know this because it was featured on one episode and Rica got drunk. Now, during Christmas Ball, Sam and Rica got drunk.

I wonder what would happen today?

Well, maybe the next birthday featured would be Tibo's (31st December).

OH! It's now 1:39 PM. A few more minutes and it's gonna be a replay of "The Numberjacks" episode today. Sigh. We have to go to Novena today because we're going to St. Alphonsus' Church (often referred to as "Novena Church" due to its near distance to the MRT station). We also have to go to Causeway Point because we have to buy Nerf blasters for Zack and Carl, who is Tita Gracia's children. Then, I have to help choose a book for Aika, who is their eldest (and only) daughter.

Hmmm. I wonder what they'd say if I gave her a copy of "The Purpose-Driven Life" by Rick Warren?

That sounds like a bad idea. Sigh. What on Earth am I supposed to give her?

Phew! It's been a long time since I haven't posted. Don't expect me to feel bad or anything or apologize to you. As I've said, I simply post for my own pleasure. What with all the Simbang Gabi masses every day (FOR NINE DAYS STRAIGHT) and the fact that I had to edit my blogskin for my new blog and change my URL. The latter was a thoroughly hard thing to do since I had to think up of something and went through my past URLs:

Other than that, PBB is quite uninteresting as it previously was. Firstly, Carol got evicted. I mean, she had all the drama. So there's no longer any fun drama to watch out for. Secondly, Christmas Ball affairs did not capture my attention at all. I predict that Patrick might get evicted, though.

I just realized it's now December 22. The winter solstice is now officially over. But that means I have to get through another day again. Oh, and during the Christmas Ball thing-y and the housemates commented on their new looks and Paul Jake talked about his, Ate Kat said something that sounded like, "Wow! He looks cute". Not sure, though.

Anyways I feel very ecstatic (haha, nice choice of word, eh?) since I just bought "I Am Yours..." by Beyonce at Titanium @ ION Orchard for $42.95. It was damn expensive but heck it was worth it. It's got a DVD and a live CD. I've already put all the songs in my phone. Don't tell my sister, though.

It's a book I've always been waiting for.The Cliquetionary by bestselling author Lisi Harrison is quite similar to an encyclopedia; it's a companion guide to the series. It includes quizzes, information about the series' main characters (Massie, Claire, Alicia, Dylan and Kristen), quotes, a makeover chart (from Bratfest at Tiffany's), and a dictionary defining the words from the Pretty Committee's signature lingo.

However, there are some things that are very disappointing. Firstly, there are only several words and phrases included in the mini-dictionary; were was the definition of "swear on Bean" and the antonym of "shopaholic"? I know this because The Clique's movie website featured several words not at all included in the list. In fact, to be perfectly honest, I believe that the aforementioned website contained the whole list of words made up by TPC (stands for "The Pretty Committee"), whilst the Cliquetionary featured only a small fraction, or perhaps one-quarter.

There was also the severe lack of Massie's comebacks. Not that I'm complaining as it's already sufficient enough for me. However, the fact that there were no numbers on the bottom of the pages indicating which page you were on was disappointing. How could I have found page 56? I had to manually look for it before I decided that maybe I was on the wrong page.

Still, though, The Cliquetionary is an interesting read, and it definitely will remain in my schoolbag for the next year whenever I need to look for a juicy comeback, or perhaps a word that no one will understand.
